Home made Ragi Dosa / Idle recipe

Ragi idli/Dosa


Ragi grains - 3 cups
Urad  dal -  1 cup
salt to taste
Oil to grease the Idle tray / to make Dosa

Method to prepare :

 step 1: Soak urad dal and ragi grains separately a bowl for minimum 5 hours or overnight.

step 2: Grind the urad dal separately till it become fluffy.

step 3: Next grind the ragi seperately (if using ragi grains).

step 4: Mix the urad dal batter and ragi batter together with required salt(salt to taste). If you are using ragi flour, grind the urad dal to a smooth batter and mix in the ragi flour to this. Add little water and mix to get a idli batter consistency.

step 5: the method you follow, let the batter ferment overnight or until it doubles in volume.If you are in a cold country, leave the batter in the oven with the light on to aid the fermentation process.

step 6: After it ferments,on stove put in to pan and add little amount oil and you can make idlis or dosa immediately.

step 7:it is look like a light redesh color

step 8: if u have batter ,You can also store the batter in the fridge for 4-5 days.

 hot hot Ragi  Idle / Dosa ready to eat with any kind of chutney,sambar or gravy/sugar
